Tea is Healthy

Teas, especially herbal teas have many benefits.  Personally being a big tea lover I was excited when I found out that that tea is linked to many health benefits such as:

  • Reduced risk of heart disease and cancer
  • Improved insulin response and reduced blood sugar levels
  • Reduced pain and inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis
  • Reduced risk of dementia
  • Reduced glaucoma risk
  • Improved digestion
In addition, research has recently found that tea doesn't necessarily dehydrate, in fact it re-hydrates.  There has also been suggestions that the antioxidants in tea can protect against cancer.

Mind you, however, if you drink tea laced with sugar and milk you may not reap the same benefits.  Tea is most beneficial when it is made just simply with pure and clean water.  You may sweeten it with a little bit of honey or stevia, a natural plant based sweetener.

So what kind of teas have the most benefits?  Both Green and Black teas have healthful benefits.  Herbal teas are also very healthful.  I personally drink more herbal teas and I find that each kind has its own unique benefits.   If you decide to get started on herbal or any kind of teas I would suggest you always buy organic loose leaf tea., which means its not in a tea bag.

My favorite  herbal teas and some of  their benefits:

Chamomile:  calming, soothing
Ginger: helps in digestion and blood circulation
Mint:  helps in digestion, awakens
Rooibos:  thirst quenching, soothing,
